KASUPDA To Demolish Unsafe Buildings In Kaduna

Director-General, Kaduna State Urban Planning Development Authority (KASUPDA), Mr Isma’il Dikko, has said the agency will not shy away from demolition of unsafe structures in any part of the state in the interest of public safety.
He stated this in a statement on Monday in Kaduna while reacting to the collapse of a building in Zaria that the authority had earlier marked as unsafe.
He, however, said before doing that, the authority will always advise contractors and developers to rectify any anomaly so as to avert building collapse or any mishap in the future.
Mr Dikko said that the measure was not to punish developers, but help everyone in the society by making every building safe, thereby benefitting owners and users.
The director-general assured that KASUPDA officials were always ready to assist developers, contractors and prospective house-owners with technical advice.
