Kogi State Passes 2026 “Budget of Shared Prosperity” Into Law

The Kogi State House of Assembly has formally passed the 2026 Appropriation Bill into law, following a legislative review process that included public input and agency scrutiny.

The budget, presented by Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, was approved on Wednesday after a series of steps designed to ensure transparency.

The process featured a public hearing for citizens and civil society groups, followed by detailed budget defence sessions where state Ministries and Agencies justified their proposed allocations.

Chairman of the House Committee on Budget, Olawumi Jacob, stated that lawmakers examined sectoral distributions and incorporated feedback from stakeholders before finalizing the document.

He described the approved budget as a binding, people-oriented plan themed “Budget of Shared Prosperity for Sustainable Development,” aimed at benefiting all residents.

With its passage, the state government is now cleared to begin implementation across key economic sectors in the coming fiscal year.
