Kwankwaso Questions APC Campaign Council, Urges Yari to Step Aside as DG

Rabiu Kwankwaso, vice-presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), has criticised the composition of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 election, urging its Director-General, Abdul’aziz Yari, to reconsider his position.

In a statement on Sunday, Kwankwaso argued that the council is largely made up of political figures associated with the current administration, raising concerns about what the ruling party intends to offer Nigerians ahead of the next general election.

He said the country continues to grapple with economic hardship, insecurity, unemployment and mounting pressure on essential public services, adding that voters would have to decide whether to continue with the present administration or support an alternative vision.

Kwankwaso specifically appealed to Yari, a former governor of Zamfara State, to reflect on the challenges facing citizens, particularly in the North-West, before leading a campaign for another term for the current government.

He also expressed concerns over the reported involvement of senior public officials in the APC campaign structure, saying such participation could affect public confidence in the neutrality of key government institutions.

Calling for accountability and people-focused leadership, Kwankwaso urged Nigerians to make informed choices in the 2027 elections and support leaders committed to addressing the nation’s pressing challenges.
