Kwara Police Intensify Easter Security with Joint Show of Force

The Kwara State Police Command has intensified security operations across the state with a joint show of force aimed at ensuring a safe and peaceful Easter celebration for residents.

The development was disclosed in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, who noted that the move formed part of proactive measures to deter criminal activities and boost public confidence.

“The Kwara State Police Command, under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, conducted a comprehensive joint show of force operation across key areas of the state to enhance security during the Easter period,” the statement read.

The exercise, carried out on Saturday, involved a coordinated deployment of security personnel and assets to strategic locations across the state as part of efforts to maintain law and order.

The operation was led by the Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, in collaboration with other security agencies including the Department of State Services, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, the Federal Road Safety Corps, and the Kwara State Road Traffic Management Agency.

“This operation reflects our proactive strategy and commitment to safeguarding lives and property,” the statement said. “It is being carried out in collaboration with sister security agencies working in synergy for the peace of Kwara State.”

The police said the initiative was in line with directives from the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, to strengthen public safety and ensure effective security coverage before, during, and after the Easter festivities.

“The directive of the Inspector-General of Police is clear  there must be robust security arrangements in place before, during, and after the festive period to guarantee public safety. The show of force is not only to reassure law-abiding residents but also to send a clear message that Kwara State will not serve as a safe haven for criminal elements,” the statement added.

The command added that it would sustain the security measures beyond the festive period.
