Kwara Police Nab Suspected Kidnapper Attempting POS Ransom Withdrawal

Operatives of the Kwara State Police Command have arrested a suspect, Muhamodu Sanni, for allegedly attempting to withdraw ransom money linked to a recent abduction in the state.

The arrest was confirmed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the command’s spokesperson, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi. According to police authorities, the suspect was intercepted at a Point-of-Sale (POS) terminal while attempting to cash out proceeds from a July 28 kidnapping incident in Obudu Village, Ilorin East Local Government Area, where three individuals were abducted.

Following the abduction, police investigators expanded their operations beyond the crime scene to track the financial, communication, and logistics channels of the syndicate.

During preliminary interrogation, Sanni reportedly confessed to his involvement in collecting the ransom payment and implicated two additional syndicate members, identified as Aminu and Umar.

The Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, assured residents that law enforcement remains committed to disrupting criminal networks and urged members of the public to continue providing timely, actionable intelligence to assist police operations.
