Lagos Court Jails 13 for Illegal Waste Disposal
A Magistrate Court sitting in Bolade, Oshodi, has sentenced thirteen individuals to three months’ imprisonment each for the indiscriminate dumping of refuse in violation of Lagos State environmental sanitation laws.
The convicts, who were arraigned by the state government on Tuesday, entered guilty pleas to the charges brought against them. The sentencing follows a renewed effort by the state to crack down on environmental infractions and maintain cleanliness across the metropolis.
The individuals convicted are Jamiu Abdulkareem, Nwosu Martin, Abduljamiu Wasiu, Habeeb Muhammed, Kolawole Elijah, Anum Musa, Adeniyi Jamiu, Taiwo Olaniyi, Ali Muhammed, Paul Yaya, Damilare Adebowale, Ojo Fatai, and Abah Musa.
The state government stated that these convictions serve as a firm reminder of its commitment to enforcing environmental regulations to ensure a healthy and hygienic living environment for all residents.
