Lagos man recounts how kidnappers killed his brother after family sold everything for ransom

A Lagos-based commercial tricycle driver, Chidioke, has shared a harrowing account of how kidnappers killed his brother even after his family sold off all their properties to pay ransom demands.
According to Chidioke, he returned to Nigeria from Malaysia in 2019 for the festive season. On his way home after going out to buy fuel, he was abducted by armed men. They demanded a huge ransom, forcing him to sell properties to secure his release.
He stated that the ordeal took a worse turn when the same gang later kidnapped his brother. Despite efforts to avoid involving the police, more money was demanded, and the family sold more properties. However, the brother was eventually killed.
Since then, Chidioke said life has become extremely difficult. He now struggles to survive by driving a commercial tricycle, while his family continues to battle severe financial hardship.
