Lagos Police Nab Suspected Cultist in Ikorodu, Recover Pistol, Axe, Charms, Illicit Drug

The police in Lagos have held a 36-year-old suspected cultist, Muyideen Olatunbosun, during an intelligence-led anti-crime operation in Ikorodu, recovering a rubber-made pistol, an axe, suspected criminal charms and a quantity of illicit drugs.

The arrest followed intelligence received by police operatives while conducting anti-crime patrols along the Idi-Iroko, Ogolonto and Agric areas of Ikorodu.

According to a statement issued on Tuesday, September 22, by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the operatives acted promptly on the information, leading to Olatunbosun’s arrest.

A search conducted on the suspect reportedly yielded a rubber-made pistol, an axe, charms suspected to be used for criminal purposes and a quantity of an illicit drug popularly known as “Ice.”

The police said Olatunbosun is currently in custody and assisting investigators with information that could lead to the arrest of other suspected members of his alleged cult group.

The Command has intensified efforts to track down the fleeing suspects as part of its ongoing crackdown on cultism and other criminal activities across Lagos State.

Reacting to the arrest, the Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, commended the operatives for their vigilance and swift response to credible intelligence.

Fatai reaffirmed the Command’s determination to sustain intelligence-led operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks and curbing cult-related violence across the state.

He also urged residents to remain vigilant and support the police with timely and credible information that could help prevent crime and facilitate the arrest of suspected criminals.

The Commissioner assured members of the public of the Command’s continued commitment to protecting lives and property through proactive policing and sustained anti-crime operations.
