Lawyer Accuses Actress, Bloggers of Coordinated Smear Campaign Against Lagos Cleric

A lawyer representing Lagos-based cleric Dr. Chris Okafor has publicly accused Nollywood actress Doris Ogala and several bloggers of orchestrating a sustained campaign of cyberbullying, blackmail, and defamation against his client.

Speaking at a press conference in Lagos on Wednesday, Mr. Ife Ajayi of Sovereignty Legal Practitioners stated his team convened to “set the records straight” against months of what he termed “malicious and coordinated media attacks” targeting the founder of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracle Ministry.

Ajayi traced the conflict to a late 2024 business dispute, which was resolved through a court-sanctioned settlement containing a non-disparagement clause. He alleged that Ogala violated this agreement by resurfacing on social media in December 2025 a day before Okafor’s wedding with escalating accusations, moving from claims of an unpaid debt to allegations of an affair, and later to serious criminal claims including murder and rape.

“The sequence appears systematic, testing different narratives for public traction,” Ajayi asserted. He described the allegations as “false, outrageous, and criminal,” and claimed they were amplified by specific bloggers and social media influencers in a coordinated manner.

The legal team confirmed it has engaged consultants to monitor numerous online platforms and accounts allegedly involved. All matters, including allegations of cyberstalking, criminal defamation, and extortion, have been formally reported to the police.

Ajayi stated that the Lagos State Commissioner of Police has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to investigate. He confirmed Dr. Okafor has fully cooperated, honored all police invitations, and was released on self-recognition. He strongly dismissed online rumors that the cleric was evading arrest as “deliberate misinformation.”

Regarding Ogala, Ajayi alleged she was arrested and granted bail on health grounds before Christmas, with a warning to cease online commentary, but has since continued posting allegations while failing to return to substantiate her claims to police.

The lawyer also addressed and denied separate online claims involving a young woman, stating that irrefutable evidence disproving allegations of sexual assault or child abuse has been submitted to investigators.

Ajayi criticized certain media outlets for publishing allegations without seeking Okafor’s response, urging the public to allow law enforcement to conclude its investigations. “Trial by social media is not justice,” he stated. “The proper forum for criminal allegations is the police and the courts.”

He reaffirmed that Dr. Okafor maintains his innocence and remains committed to cooperating fully with the ongoing authorities.
