Among the prominent funding opportunities available are programmes backed by governments and academic institutions in the United Kingdom, Russia, and the United States.

Chevening Scholarships (United Kingdom)

The UK government’s flagship international awards program opens applications from August 4 to October 6, 2026. Targeting mid-career professionals with a minimum of 2,800 hours (approximately two years) of work experience, the award fully funds any one-year taught Master’s degree at an accredited British university. The grant covers full tuition, a monthly stipend, travel expenses, and visa costs. Applicants must hold a degree equivalent to an upper second-class honors (2:1) and commit to returning to Nigeria for at least two years following graduation.

Open Doors Russian Scholarship Project (Russia)

Organized by the Global Universities Association, the Open Doors project provides tuition-free admission for undergraduate, Master’s, doctoral, and postdoctoral studies across top Russian institutions. Registration runs online from August 20 to November 13, 2026. The competition spans fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Engineering, Medicine, and Business. Candidates submit an academic portfolio, motivation letter, and undergo online assessments.

Knight-Hennessy Scholars (Stanford University, USA)

The fully funded graduate scholarship program covers study across all disciplines at Stanford University. Candidates must submit two separate applications one for the Knight-Hennessy program by October 6, 2026, and a secondary application for their specific Stanford graduate program by December 1, 2026 (or earlier depending on department deadlines). Candidates are evaluated on leadership, civic commitment, and independent thinking.

Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Programme (United States)

For experienced mid-level professionals, the U.S. Department of State offers a 10-month, non-degree professional development opportunity. With an upcoming deadline of July 31, 2026, the fellowship targets leaders with at least five years of full-time professional experience. It covers travel, tuition, monthly maintenance allowances, and professional enrichment activities.
