Man Arraigned in Ekiti Court Over Alleged Stolen Vehicle Parts purchase

A 30-year-old man, Idris Ogunsola, was arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court on Friday, facing a charge of alleged possession of stolen motor parts.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge, as presented by Police Prosecutor, Inspector Sodiq Adeniyi.

According to the prosecution, the offence occurred on January 8 around 10:00 a.m. within Ado-Ekiti. Inspector Adeniyi told the court that Ogunsola was found with motor parts reasonably suspected to have been stolen, an act which contravenes Section 345 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.

The prosecutor requested an adjournment to allow time for case file review and witness assembly.

In response, the defence counsel, Mr. Adeyinka Opaleke, applied for his client’s bail, assuring the court that the defendant would remain available to face trial.

Chief Magistrate Dolamu Babalogbon granted the defendant bail set at ₦50,000, requiring one surety in the same amount.

The case has been adjourned until February 19 for a hearing.
