Mystery Surrounds Death of Calabar Ride-Hailing Driver as Police Begin Probe

The Cross River State Police Command has launched an investigation into the death of a 29-year-old ride-hailing driver whose lifeless body was discovered inside his vehicle in Calabar.

The victim was found along the Target–Udy King corridor, raising concerns over the circumstances leading to his death. Police authorities described the incident as suspicious and have commenced efforts to uncover what transpired.

According to investigators, officers responded after receiving information about the discovery, while the victim’s body had already been moved to a mortuary by relatives before their arrival.

Initial findings reportedly revealed visible injuries on the deceased, prompting detectives to broaden the scope of their investigation.

The vehicle has been recovered and secured, while forensic examinations and other investigative procedures are being carried out to determine the cause of death and establish whether foul play was involved.

Police said the case would be handled by the State Criminal Investigation Department as efforts intensify to identify those responsible, if any, and bring them to justice.

Authorities have also appealed to residents to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified claims while the investigation is ongoing.
