N569 Million Spent on Renovation of Vice President’s Official Residence

The Presidency has spent N569 million on renovating the Vice President’s official quarters at the State House in Abuja, according to public expenditure records.
The payment, processed through the Office of the Chief of Staff, was made to Dederi Investment Limited on September 15, 2025. It was described as an “additional payment for phase ii renovation of Vice President Quarters.”
This expenditure is part of a larger N5.4 billion allocation in the 2025 budget earmarked for renovations within the Presidential Villa. Specific allocations include N298.3 million for the Vice President’s guest house and a further N466.8 million planned for additional work on the main quarters.
The spending follows a pattern of significant renovation costs under the current administration. In May 2024 alone, N12.1 billion was spent on rehabilitating residential and constructing office buildings inside the Villa.
These substantial investments in upgrading official buildings occur against a backdrop of Nigeria’s challenging economic climate, characterized by rising public debt and constrained government revenues. The scale of the allocations continues to draw attention to the federal government’s spending priorities.
