Nasarawa Police Arrest 12, Rescue 7 in Security Operations

The Nasarawa State Police Command has reported significant achievements in its recent security operations, arresting 12 suspects and rescuing seven abducted victims between January 1 and mid-January 2026.

Commissioner of Police Shetima Mohammed disclosed this during a press briefing on Friday in Lafia, detailing recoveries including firearms, ammunition, a motorcycle, and ₦200,000 in suspected crime proceeds.

In one incident on January 11, police and local hunters responded to a tip-off about a man tied to a tree in Awe Local Government Area. During the rescue operation, one suspect was neutralized and an AK-47 rifle was recovered. The victim was safely reunited with his family.

Additionally, two suspected kidnappers were arrested on January 2 along the Nasarawa Eggon–Mada Station Road after attempting to bribe police officers with ₦200,000. Both suspects were linked to a prior kidnapping in Kokona LGA, during which they sustained gunshot wounds while evading arrest.

CP Mohammed commended the collaboration between police operatives and local hunters, reaffirming the command’s commitment to ensuring security across the state.
