National Assembly Shifts Resumption Date to March 5

The National Assembly has postponed its resumption of plenary, moving the date from Tuesday, February 24, 2026, to Thursday, March 5, 2026.

The change was announced in a statement issued on Monday by the Clerk to the National Assembly, Kamoru Ogunlana. According to the statement, the delay is necessary to allow various parliamentary committees to complete ongoing budget defence sessions.

“This postponement is to enable committees of the Assembly to conclude ongoing budget defence sessions,” Ogunlana said.

The legislature is currently reviewing the 2026 Appropriation Bill, with several committees still engaging ministries, departments, and agencies in defence of their budget proposals.

Plenary will now reconvene in both the Senate and the House of Representatives at 11:00 a.m. on March 5. The leadership of the Assembly apologised for any inconvenience the shift may cause and urged all members to take note of the new date and time.
