Nationwide Haze and Sunshine Forecast for Midweek, NiMet Advises Caution

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a weather outlook predicting a mix of hazy conditions and sunshine across the country from Wednesday through Friday.

In a forecast released on Tuesday, the agency stated that the northern region will experience predominantly sunny and hazy skies throughout the three-day period.

For the southern states, NiMet forecasts generally sunny conditions with patches of clouds. However, isolated thunderstorms accompanied by light rains are expected later on Wednesday in parts of Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River states.

The pattern of hazy sunshine is expected to continue over the northern and central regions on Thursday. In the south, morning thunderstorms with light rains are possible in areas including Ogun, Lagos, Rivers, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River states. These storms are forecast to extend later to parts of Ondo, Ogun, Imo, Delta, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, and Bayelsa.

By Friday, the haze is anticipated to intensify in the north, with dust haze expected during the afternoon and evening. The central region will remain sunny and hazy. Southern states will see cloudy skies with sunny intervals, along with chances of isolated thunderstorms and light rain in parts of Anambra, Imo, Abia, Edo, Bayelsa, Delta, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, and Rivers.
