NBA Demands Immediate Release of Abducted Lawyer Eunice Ameh in Abuja

The Nigerian Bar Association has called for the unconditional release of a young lawyer and National Youth Service Corps member, Eunice Ameh, who was reportedly kidnapped in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
The association’s President, Afam Osigwe, described her disappearance as painful and deeply disturbing to the legal community. In a statement, he declared that the incident was personal to the NBA, noting that lawyers across the country were emotionally affected.
Osigwe stressed that the association is more than a professional body but a community bound by shared sacrifice and a collective duty to stand for one another. He said the disappearance of a young Nigerian serving her country through the NYSC scheme had deeply shaken the entire legal community.
He pointed out that behind every missing person case is a grieving family and anxious loved ones desperately hoping for a safe return. He argued that no young Nigerian who answered the call to national service should disappear without an immediate, coordinated, and determined response from security agencies.
The NBA president called on the Inspector General of Police to urgently deploy all necessary tactical and intelligence resources toward securing Ameh’s safe release and ensuring that anyone connected to her disappearance is swiftly brought to justice. He added that every passing hour matters.
Osigwe also appealed to members of the public with useful information to assist security agencies in the rescue efforts.
The development comes amid reports that suspected kidnappers have demanded a ransom of N20 million following Ameh’s abduction. She was said to have recently resumed work as a sales manager at a private company and was nearing the completion of her NYSC programme.
