NDLEA Warns Parents After N5.8bn Drug Haul in Lagos

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has urged parents and guardians to be vigilant about suspicious sachets and packages found at home, following the seizure of illicit drugs worth over N5.8 billion from a mansion in the Lekki area of Lagos.

According to the agency, the property was being used as a storage hub for assorted narcotics, many of which were concealed in colourful, designer-style sachets clearly intended to appeal to young people.

Operatives of the NDLEA recovered the substances during an operation at the weekend. The agency noted that the seizure prevented a large volume of dangerous drugs from reaching households and children.

Parents are advised to look out for such packages. If any are found in wastebaskets or around the home, the NDLEA says immediate help should be sought for any young person who may have come into contact with them.

The agency has repeatedly expressed concern over the rising trend of narcotics being packaged to resemble sweets, snacks, and other attractive everyday items a deliberate strategy to lure teenagers and youths into drug abuse.
