NECO Releases 2025 SSCE External Results with Over 80% Achieving Key Passes

The National Examinations Council has announced the results of the 2025 Senior School Certificate Examination for external candidates, recording a strong performance with more than 80% of candidates securing five credits and above.

The Registrar and Chief Executive of NECO, Prof. Dantani Wushishi, announced the results at a press conference on Tuesday at the council’s headquarters in Minna, Niger State.

In a video posted on NECO’s official X handle, Prof. Wushishi declared the results released and directed candidates to check their scores on the council’s website using their registration numbers.

A total of 96,979 candidates registered for the examination, with 51,823 males and 45,156 females. Of these, 95,160 candidates eventually sat for the tests across sixteen subjects.

The performance breakdown shows 73,167 candidates, representing 78.32%, obtained credit and above in English Language, while 85,256 candidates, or 91.35%, achieved credit and above in Mathematics.

Overall, 68,166 candidates, representing 71.63%, secured five credits and above, including English and Mathematics. When considered irrespective of these two subjects, 82,082 candidates, or 86.26%, obtained five credits and above.

On examination malpractice, the Registrar reported 9,016 cases a 31.7% increase from the 6,160 recorded in 2024. Five supervisors from the FCT, Kano, Adamawa, and Ondo States were recommended for blacklist for aiding malpractice.

Additionally, four examination centers two in Niger State and one each in Yobe and Kano were recommended for de-recognition due to whole-center involvement in malpractice.

The SSCE External examination is designed for private candidates outside the regular school system, offering an opportunity for those who missed the internal exam or wish to improve their grades.
