Niger North Senator Sympathises With Families Of Mining Tragedy Victims

The Senator representing Niger North and Chairman, Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, Abubakar Sani Bello, has paid a condolence visit to Governor Umar Bago and the Emir of Minna over the deaths of over 30 persons reportedly arrested in connection with alleged mining activities in Minna.

Sani Bello, during the visit to the Government House, Minna, expressed solidarity with the governor and people of the state, describing the incident as a difficult moment.

“I am here to personally stand with my brother, the Farmer Governor, and the good people of Niger State at this difficult time,” he said.

He commended Governor Bago for his swift response, for ensuring the Federal Government set up a committee to investigate the tragedy, and for efforts to calm tensions and maintain peace in Minna.

He prayed for wisdom and strength for the governor to navigate the trying period.

The former governor also visited the Emir of Minna, Alhaji Umar Farouk Bahago, to commiserate with the Emirate and families of the victims.

“Our Royal Fathers carry a great responsibility, especially at moments like this. They remain close to their people and are often called upon to help calm tensions and provide guidance when tragedy strikes,” he said.

Sani Bello prayed for the bereaved families and for the repose of the departed, and for peace in Niger State.

He was accompanied by former Deputy Governor, Alhaji Mohammed Ahmed Ketso, former Chief of Staff, Ibrahim Balarabe Kagara, former commissioners, special advisers and other aides.
