NURTW Honour Zamfara Gov Lawal, Endorses Second Term

The National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) has endorsed Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal for a second term, citing his administration’s improvements in the transport sector and infrastructure.

The union also honoured Lawal with an Award of Excellence at the Dome Pavilion, Government House, Gusau, on Wednesday.

The endorsement was announced when a NURTW delegation led by the union’s Board Chairman, Dr Najeem Usman Yasin, visited the governor.

The delegation included the National President of the union, Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, and other senior officials.

Yasin said the union had monitored Lawal’s achievements during his three years in office and decided to recognise his administration’s efforts.

“Governor Lawal is surely a gift to Zamfara State. With the transformation he has achieved in three years, he has brought Zamfara to world standards,” Yasin said.

He added: “I want to, on behalf of the NURTW, endorse Governor Dauda Lawal for re-election and also call on all members of the union to support and work towards his re-election in 2027 for the continuation of the good works he has started.”

Responding, Lawal said the endorsement demonstrated the positive relationship between his administration and the transport sector.

He said his administration had distributed 50 subsidised mass transit vehicles to NURTW members to improve their livelihoods and public transportation.

The governor also said his administration renovated the Zamfara State Council Secretariat of the NURTW to provide transport workers with a more conducive working environment.
Lawal said the Award of Excellence would serve as motivation for his administration to do more for residents of the state.
