Ogun Police Arrest 23 Foreign Nationals Linked to Ponzi and Visa Fraud
The Ogun State Police Command has taken 23 foreign nationals into custody following a raid on a residential property in Ota over their alleged involvement in a Ponzi scheme and visa fraud.
The operation was conducted on August 4 at around 11:00 a.m. by officers attached to the Atan-Ota Division, following credible intelligence regarding illicit activities taking place at the location. Police personnel secured the premises and detained the individuals to facilitate an investigation into financial crimes and immigration violations.
Following preliminary inquiries, 21 of the suspects were transferred to the Nigeria Immigration Service on August 5 for further processing regarding their immigration status.
The remaining two suspects were retained by police authorities for prosecution on charges including Obtaining by False Pretence. Command spokesperson DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi confirmed that investigations remain ongoing to uncover the full extent of the scheme and identify any additional accomplices.
