Ogun Police Arrest Two Suspected Armed Robbers, Recover Three Pistols

Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command’s Anti-Robbery Team have arrested two suspects, Adeyinka Onakomaya, 46, and Olayiwola Kehinde, 48, over alleged involvement in armed robbery, carjacking and illegal possession of firearms.

The arrests followed up on leads from the April 2026 recovery of a stolen red Toyota Matrix. During the latest operation, police recovered three locally made pistols and 18 live cartridges, dealing a significant blow to a syndicate operating across the state.

Police spokesperson DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi said the breakthrough came from sustained intelligence gathering and follow-up operations tied to the April robbery. Tracking the leads further, operatives traced the two suspects to hideouts in the Babaode area along Idiroko Road, Ota, and in Lagos State’s Command area.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the two arrested suspects, alongside other members of their gang, masterminded the April robbery incident and participated in a series of armed robbery operations and violent vehicle snatchings across Ota, Iju, Babaode and Atan areas of Ogun State,” Babaseyi said.

A search following their arrest turned up the pistols and cartridges. Both suspects reportedly confessed during interrogation to their involvement in multiple armed robbery cases in the region and are said to be cooperating with detectives as investigations continue. Police say efforts are ongoing to track down other gang members still at large.

Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni commended the Anti-Robbery Team for their persistence and thorough follow-through, saying the arrests and firearms recovery reflect the command’s determination to see investigations through to completion. He reassured Ogun residents that the command remains committed to dismantling armed robbery networks and urged the public to keep reporting suspicious activity in their communities.
