Ogun State Approves Resumption of Awujale Selection Process

The Ogun State Government has authorized the Fusengbuwa Ruling House to restart the process for selecting the next Awujale of Ijebuland.

This follows a two-week suspension ordered by the state due to procedural errors that risked multiple lawsuits. The stool became vacant after the passing of Oba Sikiru Adetona in July.

In a letter from the Ijebu Ode Local Government, the ruling house is now directed to begin its internal selection within 14 days, in line with customary laws and state chieftaincy regulations.

In response, the Fusengbuwa family has scheduled its nomination meeting for Monday, January 12, at Bisrod Hall in Ijebu Ode.

The process has drawn wide interest, with over 60 reported contestants. Fuji star KWAM1, who had expressed interest, is not eligible as he is not a member of the ruling house. He recently withdrew a lawsuit seeking to halt the selection after a court declined his request for an injunction.
