Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State officially signed the 2026 Appropriation Bill of N1.669 trillion into law on Wednesday, finalizing the state’s fiscal plan for the coming year.
The budget, named the “Budget of Sustainable Legacy,” represents a significant increase of 58% from the 2025 budget of N1.054 trillion.
The signing ceremony at the Governor’s Office in Abeokuta was attended by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Oludaisi Elemide, other principal officers and members of the Assembly, and State Executive Council members.
Governor Abiodun stated that his administration would begin implementing the budget immediately after the holiday period, with a focus on improving revenue generation and expenditure management. He emphasized that the early signing, following the Assembly’s passage of the bill on Monday, aligns with the state’s tradition of ensuring fiscal predictability and continuity.
The governor commended the State House of Assembly for its diligent and expedited review of the budget proposal, which he had initially presented on December 3, 2025.
In his remarks, Speaker Elemide noted that lawmakers had conducted a thorough scrutiny of the bill to ensure it meets the developmental goals of Ogun State. He expressed satisfaction that the legislative process was completed before the end of the year.
