Okpebholo Vows To Rebuild Burnt Oluku Market, Support Affected Traders
Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo,has pledged his administration’s support for traders affected by the fire at Oluku Market, assuring them of assistance to rebuild the market and restore their livelihoods.
Governor Okpebholo gave the assurance during an inspection of the affected market on Friday, October 16, 2026.
He expressed sadness over the disaster and assured the victims that his administration would not abandon them.
The governor also visited victims receiving treatment at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), reaffirming his commitment to their recovery and restoration of traders’ livelihoods.
He urged residents to prioritise safety and avoid approaching scenes of petrol-related accidents to scoop fuel, warning that such actions could lead to further loss of lives.
