Ondo Police Arrest Man for Allegedly Stabbing Teenager to Death in Owo

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a suspect, Johnson Daniel, in connection with the alleged murder of an 18-year-old boy, Ariyo Timilehin, in Owo, headquarters of Owo Local Government Area.
The command’s spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued on Saturday in Akure. He stated that preliminary investigations suggest the victim was stabbed during a heated argument with the suspect.
“The command has confirmed the arrest of a suspect in connection with the alleged murder of Ariyo Amos Timilehin following a violent altercation in Owo on March 6, 2026,” Jimoh said.
According to the police spokesperson, the victim was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Owo, where he was pronounced dead on arrival by a medical doctor.
Jimoh added that police detectives visited the scene of the incident and recovered the knife suspected to have been used in the attack. The suspect was subsequently apprehended.
“The case has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation,” he said.
The command expressed its condolences to the family of the deceased and urged members of the public to always seek peaceful means of resolving disputes.
Meanwhile, a source familiar with the situation told the News Agency of Nigeria that the victim and the suspect were known to be close friends and were frequently seen together in their neighbourhood.
