Ondo Police Arrest Two Suspected Kidnappers, Recover Motorcycles Used for Reconnaissance

The Ondo State Police Command has announced the arrest of two suspected kidnappers and the recovery of motorcycles allegedly used by the suspects to facilitate their criminal operations.
In a statement released on Monday in Akure, the state capital, the command’s spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed that the suspects were apprehended on February 11, 2026, by operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit. He said the arrests were made possible through credible tracking analysis and technical intelligence.
Jimoh identified the suspects as Abubakar Sindiku, 25, and Oliver Okoh, 35. Sindiku was arrested in the Sabo Sango area along Ado Road, while Okoh was picked up in the Ilado Community.
“The tracking led to the arrest of Abubakar Sindiku and Oliver Okoh in connection with an ongoing investigation into a kidnapping case within the state,” Jimoh stated.
According to the police spokesperson, preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects are members of a kidnapping syndicate. They are alleged to have used their motorcycles for reconnaissance, gathering information on potential targets. Additionally, they reportedly provided logistics support to the syndicate, including supplying food and other operational accessories.
“The motorcycles and relevant tools used in facilitating their criminal activities were recovered. Investigation is ongoing to apprehend other members of the syndicate and ensure they are brought to justice,” Jimoh added.
He noted that the suspects are currently assisting the police with useful information following the recording of their statements.
The command’s spokesperson reaffirmed the commitment of the state Commissioner of Police to the protection of lives and property, assuring residents that security operatives would leave no stone unturned in ensuring the safety of all citizens. He also called on the public to remain vigilant and provide timely, credible, and actionable information to security agencies.
