Ooni of Ife Honours Ghana’s President Mahama with Prestigious Title

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has conferred the prestigious chieftaincy title of Aare Atayeto Oodua of the Source on Dr. John Mahama, the President of Ghana. This significant ceremony took place on Monday in Ile-Ife, Osun State, as part of the festivities marking the 10th anniversary of Oba Ogunwusi’s coronation as the traditional ruler of Ife.

Upon his arrival in Nigeria, President Mahama was warmly received at the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport in Ibadan, Oyo State, before proceeding to Ile-Ife, where he was greeted by a large crowd of well-wishers. The installation ceremony, which held at the Palace Square, was attended by prominent figures, including Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Group, and Dele Momodu, Publisher of Ovation Magazine.

According to reports, the title conferred on President Mahama translates to “A President who reorganises the global space for humanity”. This honour underscores the Ooni’s recognition of President Mahama’s contributions to global leadership and humanity.

The event is part of a series of notable conferments by the Ooni, who recently bestowed the Yeye Asiwaju title on Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady of Nigeria.
