Oore of Otun Ekiti Marks 5 Years on Throne
The Oore of Otun Ekiti and Paramount Ruler of Mobaland, Oba Adekunle Adeagbo, has begun celebrations marking his fifth coronation anniversary with a thanksgiving service and prayers. The monarch offered prayers at the Central Mosque in Otun Ekiti during Jumat prayers on Friday, thanking God for the peace, unity, and development the community has witnessed over the past five years.
In a statement, Oba Adeagbo attributed the progress in the lives of the community’s indigenes to God Almighty, saying, “The good health and progress in the lives of indigenes of the community under my reign in the last five years are the works of God Almighty and worthy of thanksgiving.”
The monarch also prayed for hitch-free celebrations and further growth in the years ahead. Oba Adeagbo, who will mark five years on the throne on December 23, is expected to celebrate the milestone with a fundraising event and the conferment of honorary chieftaincy titles, alongside other activities lined up for the week-long celebrations.
The National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria (NCTRN) has congratulated Oba Adeagbo on his anniversary, describing him as “an astute statesman, highly courageous and patriotic in the affairs of traditional institutions and Nigeria as a whole.”
The council, in a statement signed by its Chairman, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Abubakar, and the Etsu Nupe, Dr Yahaya Abubakar, praised Oba Adeagbo’s humility, respect for humanity, uprightness, and intellectualism, saying these qualities have endeared him to many Nigerians.
Other dignitaries who have congratulated Oba Adeagbo include the Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Mrs Monisade Afuye, who described him as a development-driven and peace-building monarch, and a former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, who said Oba Adeagbo is a source of pride to Mobaland, Otun Ekiti, Ekiti State, and Nigeria.
The Egbe Omo Otun Worldwide also congratulated Oba Adeagbo, describing him as progressive-minded and saying his reign has brought remarkable transformation to the community socially, culturally, and institutionally.
The Ooni of Ife, Oba Ogunwusi, praised Oba Adeagbo’s leadership, saying it has brought peace, unity, and prosperity to Mobaland, while the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, described Oba Adeagbo’s reign as a model of purposeful stewardship, noble character, and deep commitment to the welfare of his people.
