Operation Kosaye Tightens Grip as Security Chiefs Storm Ogun–Ondo Border in Massive Show of Force

In a bold demonstration of strength against criminals, top security chiefs in Ogun State on Sunday swept across the volatile Ogun–Ondo border corridor in a high-powered joint operational assessment and show of force aimed at tightening security, denying criminal gangs safe havens and reinforcing the gains already recorded under Operation Kosaye.

The coordinated security operation, which covered key flashpoints stretching from Itele-Ijebu to Ajebandele on the Ogun–Ondo boundary, brought together the leadership of the police, military, intelligence and paramilitary agencies in one of the most comprehensive security exercises recently witnessed in the area.

Leading the exercise were the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, alongside the Security Consultant to the Ogun State Governor, retired Commissioner of Police Edward Ajogun.

Other members of the high-powered delegation included the Commander, 35 Artillery Brigade, Brigadier General J.O. Onu; the Director of the Department of State Services (DSS) in Ogun State, Director R.A. Adelakun; the Ogun State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Commandant Remilekun Omolade Ekundayo; Commander of the Ogun State Security Network (Amotekun Corps), Brigadier General Alade Adedigba (Rtd.); Commander of So-Safe Corps, Dr. Soji Ganzallo; and the Executive Chairmen of Ijebu East, Ijebu North East and Ogun Waterside local government areas.

The team traversed the Ijebu Ode–Ore Expressway, inspecting strategic communities including J2, J3, J4, Itele, Atoyo, Agerige, Ogbere, Ibiade, Iwopin and Abigi before concluding the exercise at Ajebandele, the boundary community separating Ogun and Ondo states.

Security authorities said the operation was designed to evaluate vulnerable locations, review operational needs, assess terrain challenges and strengthen inter-agency coordination in tackling cross-border crimes.

The exercise also provided an avenue for engaging community stakeholders to boost intelligence gathering and encourage residents to play a more active role in crime prevention.

The convoy of security personnel and patrol assets also served as a powerful show of force, reassuring residents, commuters and travellers that the Ogun–Ondo corridor remains under constant surveillance and coordinated security dominance.

Police authorities said the operation underscored the readiness of security agencies to respond swiftly to emerging threats while sustaining pressure on criminal elements operating within the border communities.

Speaking after the assessment, CP Ojajuni praised the cooperation among participating security agencies, government officials and community leaders, describing the collaboration as critical to maintaining peace across the state.

He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to sustained joint operations, improved intelligence sharing, deployment of modern policing technology and stronger partnerships with local communities to keep Ogun State safe.

The police commissioner also urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities, stressing that effective policing depends on timely, credible and actionable information from members of the public.

He advised residents to use the Ogun State Police Command’s toll-free Gateway Shield line 0800 000 9111 or emergency numbers 0906 283 7609, 0912 014 1706, 0915 102 7369 and 0708 497 2994 to report emergencies or provide useful intelligence.
