Osun Election: Adeleke Raises Alarm, Urges Tinubu to Ensure Votes Count

Osun State Governor and Accord Party governorship candidate, Ademola Adeleke, has called on President Bola Tinubu to intervene in the ongoing gubernatorial election collation process, expressing grave concerns over alleged attempts to manipulate the outcome.

In a statement posted on his X account on Saturday, Adeleke appealed to the President to caution all security agencies deployed for the election, warning that desperate politicians were plotting to hijack and disrupt collation centres across the state. He described these reported actions as deeply troubling and a direct threat to the democratic will of Osun residents.

The Governor specifically urged President Tinubu to issue a clear directive to the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services, the Nigerian Army, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, ensuring that they remain neutral and protect the integrity of the electoral process. He stressed that the President must reaffirm his earlier commitment that the votes of Osun people would count and that the final result would genuinely reflect their choice at the polls.

Adeleke further called on the Federal Government to provide the Independent National Electoral Commission with all necessary support to complete the collation process and announce a credible outcome without undue interference. He maintained that the people of Osun State had spoken clearly through their ballots and that their mandate must be respected and protected at all costs.

“The people of Osun State have spoken with one voice, and their voices must be heard. Their votes must be protected, and their mandate must be respected,” Adeleke declared, as tension continues to mount across the state while INEC officials work to conclude the collation of results from Saturday’s governorship election.
