Osun Governor Unveils First Phase of 3.5km Ila-Orangun Dual Carriageway

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has officially commissioned the first phase of the 3.5-kilometer Ila-Orangun township road dualization, highlighting the project’s potential to drive socio-economic growth across the area.

In a statement released on Friday by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Governor Adeleke described the road as vital infrastructure designed to boost local commerce, improve mobility, and enhance road safety. He emphasized that the project reflects his administration’s commitment to extending development to grassroots and rural communities.

According to the governor, the newly dualized road will facilitate investment, ease the transportation of agricultural produce, and grant seamless access to schools, healthcare facilities, and the royal palace. He also noted that over seven kilometers of intracity roads have already been completed within Ila-Orangun alongside ongoing intercity road connections.

Speaking at the commissioning, the Commissioner for Special Duties, Dr. Tokunbo Salam, confirmed that the first phase was delivered strictly within the 12-month timeline set at the project’s flag-off.

Providing further technical details, Olalekan Salami, Director of Research and Planning in the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, explained that the entire initiative spans a 10-kilometer dual carriageway divided into three phases. With the first 3.5-kilometer section now completed designed to eventually connect directly to the Federal University of Health Sciences the second 3.5-kilometer phase and final 3-kilometer stretch will follow in subsequent stages.
