Osun Poll: Police Urged to Maintain Neutrality, Crack Down on Troublemakers

Former Osun State lawmaker Olatunbosun Oyintiloye has called on the police to maintain strict neutrality and take decisive action against anyone attempting to incite violence during the upcoming state governorship election, regardless of their status or political affiliation.

In a statement released in Osogbo, the former representative for Obokun State Constituency urged the newly deployed Commissioner of Police, Mr. Samuel Etaifo, to work closely with other security agencies to guarantee a peaceful electoral environment.

Oyintiloye emphasized that safeguarding voters before, during, and after the exercise remains critical to preserving the integrity of the ballot amid rising political tension. He cautioned political actors against treating the election as a conflict and urged the public to support law enforcement efforts in maintaining order.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain also expressed confidence in the victory of the party’s candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, praising his track record and vision for state development.

Fourteen political parties are set to participate in the Osun governorship election scheduled for August 15.
