In a statement on Wednesday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, identified the suspects as David Okhaie, 48, and Balogun Afolabi, 43. Both were previously corporals in the Nigerian Army.

According to the police, the arrest followed credible intelligence and a coordinated operation within the Ibadan metropolis. The suspects are alleged to have specialized in robbing members of the public of their vehicles at gunpoint.

A search led to the recovery of several exhibits, including a Toyota Camry, a Toyota Corolla, a Lexus RX 350, and a motorcycle.

“The suspects have confessed to the commission of the crimes and are currently providing useful information to assist ongoing investigations,” Ayanlade stated.

The police have invited members of the public who may have lost vehicles matching the descriptions of the recovered items to come forward with proof of ownership for verification.

The Command reiterated its commitment to combating crime and encouraged citizens to continue providing timely information to security agencies.

This arrest occurs amid ongoing police efforts to address armed robbery and related violent crimes across the country.
