PDP Candidate Oluyede Vows Issue-Based Campaign After Court Victory

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Ekiti State, Wole Oluyede, has declared his readiness to commence full-scale campaigns ahead of the June 20, 2026, governorship election, following a court order mandating his recognition by the electoral body.
A Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognize Oluyede as the valid PDP candidate, overturning the commission’s earlier rejection of his candidacy.
In a statement released on Saturday by his Special Adviser on Media, Gani Salau, Oluyede described the judgment as a victory for the people of Ekiti and called on the electorate to support his bid.
“I can assure the people of Ekiti that our campaign will be issue-based,” Oluyede stated. “It will dwell on what I have to offer to transform our dear state for the betterment of every one of us and, at the same time, make things different from the Oyebanji government.”
He urged residents to translate their support into votes in the upcoming election, expressing gratitude for the solidarity shown so far.
Meanwhile, the South-West zone of the PDP has hailed the court ruling as a catalyst for intensified grassroots mobilization. The zonal Publicity Secretary, Sanya Atofarati, in a separate statement, called on party members across all wards and local governments to ramp up voter engagement efforts.
“The momentum is now with the PDP. Victory is certain. This judgment is a victory for democracy and the rule of law,” Atofarati said. “It reaffirms that no institution is above the law. We congratulate Dr. Oluyede, whose candidacy has now been firmly validated by the court.”
He also commended the judiciary for its role and thanked the people of Ekiti for their steadfast support.
