PFN Vows to Continue Bus Preaching Despite Proposed FRSC Amendment Bill
The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) has asserted that its members will continue evangelizing in commercial buses regardless of proposed legal penalties.
Speaking on a television program, PFN President Bishop Wale Oke rejected the provisions of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Amendment Bill, 2026, which proposes a ₦50,000 fine for individuals convicted of preaching, hawking, or trading inside commercial vehicles. Oke stated that Christians would not halt their evangelism, describing the legislative proposal as an infringement on their constitutional right to practice and propagate their faith.
The controversy stems from sections of the amendment bill targeting commercial vehicle activities, though the Senate has clarifiedi that the provision is not a new prohibition. Lawmakers explained that the regulation has existed under the FRSC Establishment Act of 2007 and related road traffic regulations, emphasizing that the rule is intended to prioritize commuter safety rather than target religious expression.
