Plateau Assembly Receives 2025 Audited Financial Reports for State and 17 Local Governments

The Plateau State House of Assembly has officially received the audited financial statements of the state government and its 17 local government councils for the 2025 fiscal year.

The reports were submitted by the Office of the Auditor-General for the State and the Auditor-General for Local Governments during plenary, in accordance with Section 125 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) and the Plateau State Audit Law of 2021.

Laying the documents before the House, Speaker Naanlong Gapyil commended Governor Caleb Mutfwang for the timely submission, describing the move as a demonstration of fiscal discipline, transparency, and adherence to constitutional provisions.

Exercising its oversight powers, the Assembly committed the financial statements to its House Committee on Public Accounts and Petitions for detailed scrutiny. The committee has been tasked with reviewing all financial records to ensure compliance with approved estimates and public finance regulations, investigating potential irregularities or financial waste, and inviting accounting officers for clarification where required before submitting a final report to the Assembly.
