Plateau Gov Flags Off N1.5bn Aid For 1,571 Families Hit By Attacks
Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has commenced the distribution of N1.5 billion humanitarian support to 1,571 households affected by violent attacks across five local government areas of the state.
The intervention comprises N1 billion donated by First Lady Oluremi Tinubu through the Renewed Hope Initiative and N500 million contributed by the Plateau State Government.
The funds were disbursed to beneficiaries at the Government House in Jos on Monday, September 21, 2026.
Governor Mutfwang said the assistance targets verified families in Bassa, Riyom, Barkin Ladi, Bokkos and Mangu Local Government Areas and is aimed at providing immediate financial relief.
He said a subsequent phase will focus on community recovery, rebuilding and restoration of livelihoods.
The governor also pledged to work with affected communities, traditional institutions and security agencies to facilitate safe returns where possible and rebuild displaced communities, urging beneficiaries to use the funds responsibly to restore their livelihoods and support sustainable businesses.
