Police arrest officer over missing firearms in Plateau

The Plateau State Police Command has arrested an officer who had been declared at large in connection with the disappearance of firearms and ammunition from its Riyom Division.
The suspect, Inspector Iliya Dauda, is an armourer attached to the Riyom Division. He was taken into custody after internal investigations reportedly linked him to the missing weapons, according to sources familiar with the matter.
A counterinsurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, reported that police sources disclosed the arrest followed ongoing inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the loss of the firearms and ammunition an incident that had raised concerns within security circles in the state.
According to the sources, the detention of the officer is expected to facilitate the prompt recovery of the missing arms and ammunition.
A police source further assured that updates regarding efforts to recover the lost weapons would be communicated as investigations and recovery operations progress.
