Police Arrest Suspected Drug Traffickers, Seize 2,000 Illicit Tablets in Katsina
The Katsina State Police Command has arrested two suspects, including a 27-year-old man, in connection with the trafficking of illicit pharmaceuticals in the Funtua Local Government Area.
The arrests were confirmed in a statement issued on Saturday by the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq.
According to authorities, anti-crime patrol operatives attached to the Central Police Station in Funtua intercepted a motorcyclist, identified as Jibrin Salisu, at approximately 12:00 p.m. on June 15, 2026. A routine stop-and-search led to the discovery of 2,000 tablets suspected to be Diazepam concealed in two separate sachets.
During preliminary interrogations, Salisu reportedly confessed that he received the controlled substances from 26-year-old Faith Eze. The illicit drugs were allegedly intended for delivery to an accomplice known locally as “Gurgu,” who managed to evade capture and remains at large.
Following up on the confession, police operatives launched a targeted operation that successfully traced and apprehended Eze. Law enforcement officials noted that both detained suspects have confessed to their involvement in the distribution ring.
The state’s Commissioner of Police, CP Ali Umar Fage, reiterated the command’s uncompromising stance against drug abuse and trafficking. Warning individuals involved in the illegal drug trade to halt their activities immediately, the commissioner urged the public to assist law enforcement by providing actionable intelligence to help eliminate criminal networks across the state.
