Police Heighten Security in Oyo Community After Attack Threat

Security has been reinforced in Ikoyi-Ile, Oyo State, following a written threat of an attack by suspected bandits. The warning, contained in a handwritten note left in the community, indicated a planned assault for January 20, 2026.
In response, the State Police Command has deployed additional armed patrols, intensified stop-and-search operations, and increased surveillance in the area. The Commissioner of Police has also ordered a thorough investigation into the origin and authenticity of the note.
This development comes shortly after a recent attack in the same local government area, where five park officers were killed.
Police authorities have urged residents to remain calm and vigilant, assuring them that robust measures are in place to protect lives and property. The public is encouraged to report any suspicious activity to security agencies.
