Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni.

The Ogun State Police Command has launched a comprehensive investigation into the murder of a retired Ogun State Television (OGTV) broadcaster, Mrs. Kitan Oyesiku, and her security guard.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday at Oyesiku’s residence in the Agodo community, located along the Abeokuta–Siun–Sagamu Expressway in the Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area. According to a statement issued by police spokesperson DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, a resident of nearby Iyana Agodo Village raised the alarm after noticing suspicious activities at the house, prompting an immediate deployment of detectives from the Owode-Egba Division.

Upon arriving at the scene, investigators discovered signs of forced entry and disturbances within the compound. A thorough search of the premises revealed the body of the security guard inside the security post, while the 67-year-old broadcaster’s body was found inside her apartment. Police also noted that a vehicle belonging to the deceased was missing from the property, suggesting it may have been stolen by the attackers.

Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, has ordered an intensive, intelligence-led operation across the region to track down and apprehend the perpetrators. While commiserating with the families of the victims and the media community, the command urged residents to remain calm and vigilant, requesting that any relevant information be shared with the police to aid the ongoing investigation.

Reacting to the incident, the Chairperson of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Ogun State Chapter, Mrs. Oluwaseun Boye, expressed deep shock, describing the attack on the retired senior programme producer as a devastating and callous act.
