Police Nab Four More Suspected Vandals, Recover Stolen Materials in Cross River

The Cross River State Police Command has recorded another breakthrough in its crackdown on infrastructure vandalism with the arrest of four more suspects linked to the alleged theft and destruction of facilities belonging to a quarry company in Akamkpa Local Government Area.

The suspects were apprehended during a police operation in Obung Community following reports from local leaders and residents. Security operatives also recovered iron materials believed to have been removed from the company’s facilities.

The latest arrests follow an earlier operation that led to the detention of two other suspects, bringing the total number of persons arrested in connection with the case to six.

Police authorities said investigations are ongoing to uncover the full extent of the vandalism network and identify additional individuals involved in the illegal activities.

The state Commissioner of Police, Ajo-Geoffrey Ordue, commended officers for their swift response and praised community members for providing timely information that aided the operation.

He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting critical infrastructure and ensuring that those responsible for acts of vandalism are brought to justice.

The suspects remain in custody as police continue efforts to track down other members of the alleged syndicate.
