Police Raid Oyo Hideout, Apprehend Four Suspected Armed Robbers

Operatives of the Oyo State Police Command have arrested four suspected armed robbers and cultists during a raid on a criminal hideout in the Soka area of Oluyole Local Government Area.

The security operation, which also led to the recovery of a locally fabricated pistol, was confirmed in an official statement released in Ibadan by the State Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade.

According to the police command, the raid was executed at approximately 6:00 a.m. on Friday by the Violent Crime Response Unit. The tactical deployment followed credible intelligence indicating that a notorious criminal syndicate, responsible for terrorizing various neighborhoods within the Ibadan metropolis, was gathering at the location.

The intelligence further revealed that the group was actively finalizing logistics to launch a fresh criminal operation within the host community just before the police intervened.

Authorities identified the apprehended suspects as Salawu Sarafa (alias Folori), Yusuf Tajudeen (alias Blacky), Farouq Ariyo, and Adebayo Awosemo (alias Naira).

During preliminary interrogation, the four suspects reportedly confessed to their involvement in a string of violent crimes across Ibadan and its environs. They also admitted to being active members of the Eiye Supremo Confraternity.

The Oyo State Police Command stated that intensive investigations are currently underway to uncover the full scope of the syndicate’s operations and to identify external accomplices. Security forces are also maintaining high-intensity tracking efforts to locate and arrest fleeing members of the network.
