Political Group Hosts Free Medical Outreach in Ekiti, Ties Effort to Governor’s Agenda

Health workers provide essential healthcare services to residents during a community outreach program in Ekiti

A socio-political organization, the AK Movement, has conducted a free medical outreach for elderly and vulnerable residents in Ekiti East Local Government, citing it as a complement to the state government’s healthcare initiatives.

The group’s Convener, Akeem Bello, stated that the program, which provided services to about 500 people in Omuo Oke Ekiti, is designed to support Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s administration in improving health outcomes. He emphasized that accessible healthcare translates to increased public productivity.

“We believe that government cannot do it alone,” Bello said at the event, which marked the conclusion of the second phase of the group’s annual medical outreach. “We took the decision to complement what the governor is doing in the health sector.”

The initiative, which began in 2024 with an outreach for over 300 residents in Kota Ekiti, has now served a combined total of more than 800 people across Ekiti East Constituency II.

Bello linked the community service directly to the governor’s performance, using the platform to canvass support for Oyebanji’s re-election bid in the upcoming June 20 governorship poll. He praised the administration’s “impressive performance and commitment to peace.”

The event drew endorsements from local political figures. A former Chairman of Ekiti East Local Government, Alhaji Saka Bello, assured that the convener’s efforts were inspired by the governor’s record and that the area would offer solid support in the election.

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress Elders’ Forum in the council area, Alhaji Shittu Tiwonloju, also commended the medical outreach, noting its significant impact on beneficiaries.

The activity highlights the intersection of community health programs and political campaigning ahead of the state’s gubernatorial election.
