Presidential Media Team Inspects Federal and State Projects in Abia

The Renewed Hope Ambassadors Presidential Media Team has arrived in Abia State to conduct an inspection tour of various ongoing federal and state government infrastructure projects.

Briefing journalists after Monday’s State Executive Council meeting, the Abia State Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, stated that the visit is part of a nationwide project tour covering all six geopolitical zones. The tour highlights the collaborative relationship between the federal government and the Abia State government, which has already yielded joint initiatives such as a new airport project and the recently launched Renewed Hope Housing Estate.

During their stay, the presidential media team will inspect road constructions and other community development projects across the state’s 17 local government areas, concluding with an official civic reception hosted by Governor Alex Otti.

Alongside the project inspection announcement, the commissioner provided updates on several key state initiatives, including major structural changes to the local transport sector. Full operations have commenced at the ultra-modern bus terminal in Umuahia.

This transition is being rolled out in three phases, beginning with the Abia Green Shuttle buses, followed by informal transport operators, and concluding with formal commercial transport lines.

Enforcement measures began on Tuesday to relocate roughly 39 transport operators into the new facility amidst minor compliance pushback from some local handlers who are adjusting to the changes.

Furthermore, the state is expanding its social welfare and community development programs. The Ministry of Poverty Alleviation and Social Protection, alongside the Office of the Governor’s Wife, has initiated public awareness campaigns in alignment with World Elder Abuse Awareness Day.

The state is actively engaging community stakeholders on a new Senior Citizens Policy Framework to improve healthcare access and abuse reporting mechanisms for the elderly.

Additionally, the state government marked the International Day of the Boy Child on June 16, centering efforts on social development and mentorship programs for young boys across the state.
