Ekiti Decides 2026

Prominent Leaders Commend Smooth Conduct of Ekiti Governorship Election

High-profile stakeholders in Ekiti State have praised the smooth and efficient management of the ongoing governorship election, following a largely peaceful voting process across various local government areas.

Former Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, expressed his satisfaction with the exercise after casting his ballot alongside his wife at Ogilolo Ward 11, Unit 9, in Isan Ekiti. He described the accreditation and voting procedures as fast and seamless, giving credit to the field officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Fayemi noted that while technical execution has faced challenges in past elections, the operational efficiency during this specific exercise was commendable.

In a similar vein, former federal lawmaker Senator Ayo Arise described the process as peaceful and rapid after voting at his polling unit in Oye Ekiti. While praising the overall organization, Arise observed that voter turnout appeared moderate compared to previous elections, noting that queues at his immediate polling station were shorter than anticipated.

Despite the average turnout, Arise expressed strong confidence that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) maintains a decisive advantage in the race due to a lack of intense competition.

Addressing ambitious pre-election projections of reaching half a million total votes, he characterized the milestone as a long-term goal for state civic engagement rather than an immediate benchmark, adding that future efforts must focus on driving greater voter participation.
