Rivers NSCDC Displays Readiness To Protect Assets, Lives

The Rivers State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC has staged a show of force across Port Harcourt City to demonstrate its operational readiness and commitment to safeguarding lives and critical national assets.

Led by the State Commandant, Dr. Dennis Reuben, officers and men of the Command appeared in various operational uniforms and accoutrements, showcasing the professionalism, discipline, preparedness and diverse capabilities of the Corps.

The exercise was aimed at sending a warning signal to criminal elements and reassuring the public of the Command’s readiness to respond promptly to security threats, emergencies and other challenges within its statutory mandate.

According to the Command, the show of force underscored its capacity to discharge responsibilities including protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure, intelligence gathering, disaster mitigation and emergency rescue, supervision of private guard companies, protection of agro-allied investments, and combating illegal mining and other forms of economic sabotage.

Speaking during the exercise, Dr. Reuben commended the Commandant General of NSCDC, Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, for his continuous support in strengthening the Command’s operational capacity and boosting personnel morale.

The Commandant read the riot act to vandals, economic saboteurs and other criminal elements, declaring: “Rivers State is no longer a conducive haven for criminal activities.”

He warned those engaging in acts capable of undermining peace, security and economic development of the state to desist immediately or face the full weight of the law.

“Today’s Show of Force serves as a clear demonstration of the alertness, discipline, professionalism and combat readiness of the NSCDC Rivers State Command to protect the people, critical infrastructure and economic interests of the State,” he said.
