Senator Sunday Marshall Katung, who represents the Kaduna South Senatorial District, has engaged the Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, in discussions aimed at tackling the ongoing security issues in communities across Southern Kaduna.
In a statement released on Saturday, the lawmaker revealed that the meeting took place at the Federal Ministry of Defence in Abuja. He described it as part of broader efforts to secure stronger intervention from the federal government in addressing threats to peace and safety in the region.
During the discussions, the senator focused on the security situation affecting several communities within his constituency, which have faced persistent challenges in recent years. Katung described the conversation as a vital step toward resolving the instability troubling parts of the senatorial district.
He praised the Defence Minister’s responsiveness and commitment, noting that Musa showed readiness to collaborate in restoring peace to the troubled areas. According to Katung, the minister’s approach to national security reflects a deep understanding of both local and state-wide concerns.
“The minister’s outlook on security matters goes beyond our immediate senatorial district, encompassing the wider needs of Kaduna State and the nation as a whole,” Katung said.
The senator stressed the importance of unity among political actors, security forces, and local stakeholders in the quest for lasting peace. He reiterated that enduring security can only be achieved through shared responsibility and coordinated action.
“My commitment as a representative of the people is to continue engaging with the minister and other critical players to secure sustainable solutions to the challenges we face,” Katung added.
He also extended gratitude to the military and other security agencies for their dedication and sacrifice in safeguarding communities. He encouraged Nigerians to support these efforts by offering timely and useful information to assist security operations.
The senator reaffirmed his dedication to the safety and well-being of residents in Kaduna South, assuring them of ongoing dialogue with federal authorities and strategic partners to improve security across the region.
Southern Kaduna has faced repeated security incidents over the years, prompting increased calls for a coordinated response involving both political leadership and federal security institutions to protect lives and property.
